Extension of Stay
Visitors to Jamaica who wish to extend their stay beyond the period initially granted must apply for an Extension of Stay at a PICA office before their current permission expires.
- Processing time (Kingston): 3 working days
- Processing time (Montego Bay): 7 working days
- Applicants must appear in person with a valid passport and supporting documents.
Work Permits
Foreign nationals seeking employment in Jamaica must obtain a Work Permit prior to commencing employment. Applications are submitted to PICA and assessed in conjunction with the Ministry of Labour.
- Completed work permit application form
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months remaining validity)
- Letter of offer from Jamaican employer
- Evidence of qualifications/professional credentials
- Police record from country of origin
- Medical certificate
- Applicable fees
Returning Resident Permits
Jamaican nationals who have been resident abroad and wish to return permanently to Jamaica may apply for a Returning Resident Permit, which provides concessions on the importation of personal and household effects.
Deportation & Repatriation
PICA oversees the management of persons subject to deportation orders and coordinates with international partners to facilitate the repatriation of Jamaican nationals.
Ports of Entry
Immigration officers are stationed at all official ports of entry in Jamaica including Norman Manley International Airport (Kingston), Sangster International Airport (Montego Bay), and all cruise ship terminals.
