Passport Services
The Jamaican passport is issued by the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency (PICA) on behalf of the Government of Jamaica. All Jamaican passports issued from 2018 are ePassports containing a secure electronic chip.
Types of Passport Applications
- First-time Adult Passport – For Jamaican citizens aged 18 and over applying for the first time.
- Renewal (Adult) – For adults renewing an existing Jamaican passport.
- Child Passport (Under 18) – For applicants under 18 years of age.
- Emergency/Expedited Passport – For urgent travel requirements.
Documents Required – First-Time Adult Applicant
- Completed passport application form
- Original birth certificate or adoption certificate
- Proof of identity: Driver's licence, Voter's ID, or Work/Student ID
- Two (2) passport-sized photographs (one certified by a Certifying Official)
- Applicable fee (see fee schedule below)
Documents Required – Renewal
- Completed renewal application form
- Most recent passport (if available)
- Two (2) passport-sized photographs
- Applicable renewal fee
Processing Times
- Standard processing: 10–15 working days
- Expedited processing: 3–5 working days (additional fee applies)
Fee Schedule (Local Applications)
- Adult (32-page, 5-year): JMD $7,000
- Adult (48-page, 10-year): JMD $10,000
- Child (32-page, 5-year): JMD $5,000
- Expedited processing surcharge: JMD $3,500
About the ePassport
The ePassport contains an embedded chip that stores the holder's biometric and personal data. It is recognised internationally and meets ICAO standards for secure travel documents.
The biometric symbol on the front cover confirms your passport is an ePassport.
